Challenge
The primary challenge was implementing a custom e-commerce reporting module with complex tax calculations tailored to both Canadian provinces and U.S. tax regulations. Additionally, the system needed to generate well-structured CSV exports for financial analysis while maintaining optimal Magento 2 database performance. Another key requirement was enabling seamless customer migration between province-specific Magento 2 stores without disrupting user experience.
Solution
We developed a custom reporting module to address these challenges, leveraging Magento’s native reporting capabilities and advanced SQL queries. Aggregated tables were used to optimize database performance and reduce the load on live data. The solution also included an intuitive Admin UI with tabs for selecting date ranges and a one-click export button for generating structured CSV reports. Additionally, we implemented a migration script to facilitate smooth customer transfers between province-specific stores.
